Many organisations invest in Agile ways of working, but find that lasting change depends on more than teams or frameworks alone. Leadership plays a crucial role in creating focus, ownership, collaboration and a culture where teams can truly excel.

In this training, you explore how leaders effectively support Agile organisations without falling back on traditional command-and-control structures. You gain insight into topics such as Agile leadership, empiricism, team empowerment, organisational culture, metrics, value creation and continuous improvement. You also discover how leaders influence behaviour, collaboration and decision-making within modern organisations.

Topics covered include servant leadership, psychological safety, purpose-driven working, stakeholder alignment and supporting self-organising teams. You also explore how leaders help teams collaborate more effectively around customer value, innovation and sustainable results.

The training is highly practical and interactive. Through case studies, reflection, group discussions and real-world examples, you actively work on recognisable leadership challenges from modern Agile organisations.

This training is designed for leaders, managers and professionals who want to support Agile organisations more effectively. You will get the most from this training if you:

During the training, you explore how leadership influences Agile teams, collaboration and organisational culture.

You work on topics such as Agile leadership, servant leadership, team empowerment, empiricism and continuous improvement. You also explore how leaders create better conditions for teams to take ownership and perform sustainably.

You also explore how culture, metrics, behaviour and decision-making affect flow, innovation and customer value. You reflect on your own leadership style and examine how leaders support teams without taking away their autonomy.

The training is highly interactive and practical. Through case studies, discussions and reflection, you not only develop a deeper understanding of Agile leadership, but above all gain insight into how to apply it within your own organisational context.

After this training

After completing the training, you have a better understanding of how leadership contributes to successful Agile teams and organisations.

You know how to apply servant leadership, empiricism and continuous improvement to better support teams in ownership, collaboration and value delivery. You also understand how culture, behaviour and organisational context affect Agile success.

You leave with practical insights, greater awareness of your own leadership style and concrete tools for guiding Agile teams and organisations more effectively.

About the exam

After the training, you will receive an exam voucher for the official Professional Agile Leadership Essentials (PAL I) assessment from Scrum.org.

The online exam consists of multiple choice questions and covers Agile leadership, servant leadership, empiricism, organisational culture and supporting Agile teams. The exam is in English.

If you take the exam within 14 days and do not pass with at least 85%, you will receive a second exam opportunity from Scrum.org at no additional cost.

Certification

Upon successfully passing the assessment, you receive the internationally recognised Professional Agile Leadership I (PAL I) certificate from Scrum.org.

The certification confirms your knowledge of Agile leadership and supporting Agile teams and organisations. Scrum.org certifications do not expire.

Is this training only for managers?

No. The training is relevant for anyone who influences teams, collaboration and organisational development, including managers, leaders, Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches.

Do I need experience with Scrum or Agile?

A basic understanding of Agile or Scrum is helpful, but extensive experience is not required.

Is this training mostly theoretical?

No. The training is highly practical and interactive. You work with case studies, reflection, discussions and recognisable situations from modern organisations.

What topics are covered?

Topics covered in depth include servant leadership, organisational culture, team empowerment, empiricism, metrics, psychological safety and continuous improvement.

What language does the training have?

The training can be provided in Dutch, English, French and German upon request. The official course material and exam are in English. When you register for a start date in the open line, the language spoken during the training will be indicated.

How long does the training take?

The training lasts one day and is delivered as an instructor-led session, either in person or virtually.

Is the exam included?

Yes. One exam voucher for the official PAL I assessment from Scrum.org is included with the training.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. Upon successfully passing the assessment, you receive the internationally recognised PAL I certificate from Scrum.org.
