Obeya Builder

Design and build Obeya spaces that effectively connect strategy, information and decision-making.

Obeya Builder

Many organisations use Obeya to create more focus, transparency and alignment. But an effective Obeya doesn’t just happen by putting information on a wall.

As an Obeya Builder, you learn how to design, structure and tailor an Obeya to the needs of your organisation. In this two-day training, you explore how to set up physical and digital Obeya spaces, visualise information, and create an environment that supports collaboration, decision-making and continuous improvement.

The training is based on the 11 Obeya Principles and the four Obeya dimensions: Mindset, Alignment, Workspace and Content. You learn how these elements work together to create an Obeya that does more than display information — it actively helps connect strategy and execution.

Who is this training for?

This training is for professionals involved in designing, setting up or improving an Obeya.

You will get the most from this training if you work as a manager, Scrum Master, Lean professional, Agile Coach, consultant, programme manager, project manager or change agent, and play an active role in connecting strategy, execution and continuous improvement. It is also highly practical for professionals responsible for visual management, portfolio management or value stream management.

The training is particularly valuable for organisations looking to develop their Agile, Lean or Obeya practices further, and to create more alignment, transparency and ownership. You learn how to set up an Obeya that does more than display information — it actively supports better collaboration, faster decision-making and the delivery of organisational goals.

In short: you want to do more than understand what Obeya is — you want to learn how to build an effective Obeya that works in practice.

What can you expect during the training?

During the training, you learn how to design and build a physical or digital Obeya in line with the Obeya Association principles. You explore how to set up an Obeya space that supports collaboration, alignment and effective decision-making.

You also learn how to structure, visualise and position information across the different sections of an Obeya. You gain practical insight into visual management, the use of data and KPIs, and how to make information accessible for teams, leaders and stakeholders.

Through hands-on exercises, you work on designing an Obeya that connects strategy, execution and continuous improvement. In doing so, you develop the skills to build an Obeya that does more than make information visible — it helps organisations learn faster, collaborate better and make more effective decisions.

After this training

After the training, you understand how an effective Obeya is designed, set up and continuously improved. You know how to create a physical or digital Obeya that connects strategy, execution and improvement, and how to structure information in a way that supports collaboration and decision-making.

You will also have developed practical skills in visual management, information architecture and the effective use of data and KPIs within an Obeya. You understand how the different elements of an Obeya fit together, and how to create an environment where teams and leaders gain insight more quickly, collaborate more effectively and steer towards shared outcomes.

You can also become part of the Connected Movement community, where professionals share experiences, insights and practical examples around Obeya, Lean, Agile, Portfolio Management and organisational development.

About the exam

After the training, you can sit the official Obeya Builder exam from the Obeya Association. If you pass, you receive the internationally recognised Obeya Builder accreditation, including a digital badge.

It also confirms that you are familiar with the 11 Obeya Principles and the four Obeya dimensions: Mindset, Alignment, Workspace and Content.

The accreditation is an important step in the Obeya Association’s professional development pathway, and prepares you for further certifications such as Obeya Host and Obeya Coach.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to complete Obeya Fundamentals first?

The Obeya Association considers Obeya Fundamentals to be the natural foundation for Obeya Builder. While it is not always required, it helps you develop a solid understanding of the principles, terminology and approach before you start designing and setting up an Obeya.

What is the difference between Obeya Builder and Obeya Host?

Obeya Builder focuses on designing, structuring and improving the Obeya itself. You learn how to organise information, set up visualisations and create an environment that supports collaboration and decision-making. Obeya Host focuses more on facilitating the conversations, rituals and interactions that take place within the Obeya.

Is this training suitable for both physical and digital Obeya spaces?

Yes. The principles you learn apply to both physical and digital Obeya spaces. You learn how to organise information and visualisations effectively, regardless of the environment in which teams work.

How practical is this training?

The training is strongly practice-oriented. You work with examples, exercises and concrete applications that help you learn directly how to design and set up an effective Obeya within your own organisational context.

Will I receive my certification immediately after the training?

No. After the training, you can sit the official Obeya Builder exam. If you pass, you receive the internationally recognised Obeya Builder accreditation and digital badge from the Obeya Association.

Which organisations benefit from Obeya?

Obeya is used worldwide by organisations that want to collaborate more effectively, learn faster and connect strategy more directly with execution. The approach is widely used in Lean, Agile and transformation environments, but is applicable to virtually any organisation where multiple teams or stakeholders are working towards shared goals.

Can this training be delivered as a Private Training?

Yes. The training can be delivered as an In-Company Training and tailored to the context, challenges and goals of your organisation.
