RTE Mastery Track

From ART coordinator to system leader.

RTE Mastery Track

RTEs are expected to make the ART work without direct authority over the people or systems involved. It is easy to get stuck in coordination, meetings, status reports and escalations, while dependencies, unclear ownership and poor flow stay where they are.

The RTE Mastery Track helps you lead the system around the ART. You work on realistic ART-level situations, practise facilitation and influence, analyse flow and system problems, and test new behaviour in your own ART between sessions.

It is not SAFe certification and it does not teach the events step by step. It is about the judgement you need between and beyond the formal events. Taking part gives you access to the Connected community.

Who is this training for?

For people who make several teams or ARTs work together:

  • Release Train Engineers, new or experienced
  • experienced Scrum Masters moving into the RTE role
  • delivery leaders who coordinate multiple teams or ARTs

You need working knowledge of SAFe or scaled agile and experience in an ART or multi-team setting. Bring one or two situations from your own work.

What do you do during the training?

The track is built from half-day modules. Each module combines a short input with ART-level simulations, peer challenge and reflection. Between modules you test a small change in your own ART; optional AMA or coaching sessions help you work through what happens.

The ten modules

  1. From ART coordinator to system leader
  2. Flow and predictability across the ART
  3. Dependencies without the dependency theatre
  4. Facilitation at scale
  5. Influencing without authority
  6. Coaching Scrum Masters and teams
  7. Systemic impediments and continuous improvement
  8. Conflict and collaboration across the ART
  9. Strategy to execution
  10. Leading an AI-augmented ART

Open enrolment: a fixed route of six modules (1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10) with RTEs from other organisations. You present your improvement experiment in the last module.

In-house: you choose four to six modules, and we build the cases around your own ARTs.

After this training

You can:

  • diagnose and improve flow and predictability across the ART
  • expose and reduce dependencies before they become crises
  • lead complex conversations with teams, Product Management and leadership
  • decide when to coach, facilitate, delegate, step in or escalate

You leave with practical tools (ART flow diagnostic, dependency mapping canvas, stakeholder and influence map, decision-rights canvas), a personal RTE playbook, an improvement experiment under way in your ART, and access to the Connected community.

About the exam

There is no exam. The focus is on practical skills you use in your own ART.

Certification

This is not an official SAFe certification. You receive a certificate of participation from Connected Movement.

Frequently asked questions

How is the RTE Mastery Track structured?

Half-day modules spread over several weeks. Each module: short input, simulations and practice, reflection. Between modules you run a small experiment in your own ART, with optional AMA or coaching.

What is the difference between open enrolment and in-house?

In the open group you follow a fixed route of six modules with RTEs from other organisations. In-house you choose four to six of the ten modules and work on cases from your own ARTs.

Is this an official SAFe certification?

No. It builds on the SAFe RTE course and focuses on the skills you need in practice. You receive a certificate of participation.

What do I need to know beforehand?

Working knowledge of SAFe or scaled agile and experience in an ART or multi-team setting.

Can we put our own challenges at the centre?

Yes. In-house, we start with an intake and a light ART diagnostic, and build the exercises around your situation.

Can it be online or hybrid?

Yes. The modules work in a classroom and online, and can be combined.

What does access to the Connected community include?

Knowledge exchange with peers from other organisations, talks, webinars and round tables.
